New Portuguese Language Immersion Program in the Azores Set for July 2006.

Travel with Portuguese language instructor Maria Oliveira to the Azores and immerse yourself in the Portuguese language and culture.

Maria Oliveira Language Learning and Consulting is organizing a three-week Portuguese language immersion program for July 2006. Students will attend language classes at Escola Profissional das Velas from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. four days per week. Afternoons and weekends are reserved for sightseeing, tours of the Island of Sao Jorge, visits to Pico, Faial, and Terceira and much more. Students will be able to practice their newly learned skills with local tour guides and residents, most of whom are native Portuguese speakers. Maria Oliveira, your instructor, is a native of Velas, Sao Jorge.

The package price for 22 days in the Azores is just $1,995. It includes transfers from and to the airports, accommodations (double occupancy), classes (16 hours of instruction), class materials (two books and two CDs), three cruises between the four Islandsinl and planned tours of each Island.

Maria Oliveira, owner of Maria Oliveira Language Consulting Services, was educated in Portugal, the U.S. and Madrid, Spain. She has a B.A. in Portuguese and Spanish from California State University, Sacramento and an M.A. in Spanish from Sacramento State. She’s also a credentialed instructor for California Community Colleges and has extensive teaching experience in high schools, adult education, community colleges, and in the UC system. In addition to teaching Portuguese, Maria also teaches Spanish and translates. As a language program specialist, she develops conversational and technical educational materials which consist of CDs, audiotapes and workbooks that allow anyone to learn to speak Portuguese or Spanish on their own. Being a most enthusiastic instructor who loves teaching, Maria makes sure that her students learn. While they are learning, they enjoy and gain an appreciation for the language and the culture in a safe and warm learning environment.
